Folks,



You'll note that not every NC and NEC in Reg 10 is getting this note. I'm

sending it mainly to the key group of Admin folks in Reg 10 that I've

worked with these past years to rebuild and revive Reg 10 or that have shown

concern for the smooth operation of the Region and their own nets. It is

also this group that I expect to keep this note within the group.



First I'd like to apologize since I've been exceptionally busy lately, and

haven't had the time to deal with all the things that I could have, and in

a fashion that would have been more constructive. I'm stuck in a job that

pushed my hours up to 9-12 hours a day with including weekends. I have

recently put my foot down on this one so I'll have a bit more free time.

Some personal issues have also jumped up and kept me from the keyboard.

These should for the most part be resolved soon, with the exception of

resolving with my girlfriend's mothers estate issues.



I'd like to thank those who have helped or offered support during that time

as well...it was both thoughtful and appreciated.



The main reason for this note is that, once again, we have that small group

of sysops that feel compelled to try and start a civil war in Reg 10. The

same group, and the same noise as before, except this time around they've

been a bit more clever about it as well as having help from outside Region

10.



Now you've all known me, been working with me and will note for the

most part, I have no interest in the working of your local nets, nor do I

have any inclincation for micromanagement. I just don't have the time and

nor inclination as long as things are covered, that's the way it's supposed

to be and just fine by me. You'll also note the complete lack of

PC's/Excom's in Reg 10 over the past 3 or so years and that things have

been running smoothly for the most part.



This has been in large part to many NCs, NEC's and sysops using FidoNet to

solve problems, rather than let them become problems, by talking, by

negotiating, and by simply refusing to be drawn into someone else's fight.



On a those rare occasions that I have stepped into the working of a Reg 10

net, it has been for matters affecting the Region. The first was obviously

Joe Jared and net 103, which was played out in R10COORD. This was the

obvious side effect of a region that had been allowed to do things as

everyone saw fit to do for several years without restraint. I do not make

many demands of the Admin folks of Reg 10, but this NC could not deal with

one of two simple rules that the NC's required to do and he was removed.

It's still an ongoing issue, although it won't be for that much longer.



The second was a mistake made by to little sleep. Yes, I did remove the

UNEC flag from Ruth Argust's node number. I discussed this with Bob Satti during

one of our normal chats and he reminded me that he prefered that the RC's

do not do this. Ruth's UNEC flag was restored while we continued to chat. No

issue, just a fix and continue on the discussion of more important issues.



However, Ruth is one of the singular most destructive elements in Reg 10 at

this time. This problem is further exacerbated by the fact that she and

Gerry are influenced by an interest group outside of Reg 10. Because of her

continued attempts to tear down the fabric of Reg 10 without any orientation

to P4 and Gerry's obvious involvement, I am finally dealing with this.



The actions of these persons in Region 10 and those outside the Region

itself, had made it difficult to find someone who is willing to take on the

task of REC, if for no other reason that anyone who is in the post will be

attacked, even if appointed as an interim REC until an election can be

held.



Folks, I have to replace the REC here in Region 10.



This has been known for some time, and should not have been the issue it

is, but I was not about to appoint someone just to keep a small number of

people in FidoNet happy, least of all those outside Region 10. Nor was it

reasonable to try and hold an election when the issue are so political

instead of an election on merit, skill and knowledge.



Several of the people I've discussed this with have said just to appoint

someone, and what I'd like is your opinion on the matter.



Does anyone want an election, or should I simply appoint?



As I had promised, the person I have in mind is from NorCal, as was the

last one.  However, the person I have in mind is someone_I_know, and is more

stable, mature, and better able to communicate should there be any

differences of opinion, or simple misunderstandings.



Lastly, I'd like to remind all of us as *C's that our orientation to

Fidonet is P4 as the governing policy of Fidonet. It may well be out of

date, but until such time as it is amended or replaced it is the document

that we as Admin staff work under.



It is time that we stood up to the influences that are trying to incite /

influence the problems in Reg 10.



It is time that we all took the time to become active again to note that

Reg 10 is working just fine thanks to the efforts of those of us that rebuilt

and revived Reg 10.



Now, I'm certainly not perfect.. expecially when suffering from sleep

deprivation. But Reg 10 is active, it works and we're the ones that

continune to keep it this way.



There will be some interesting developments coming in the near future and

I'd appreciate it if we all took the time and effort to stand up as a group

and let everyone know that Reg 10 stands as group as we have when we

rebuilt Reg 10, as we have while coninuing to do the work to keep things

running, as we have as the select group of people that cares enough to put

in the effort we have.



We are Reg 10, let's make sure that everyone is aware of this, including Bob

Satti. And as a statement from the NC's of Reg 10, I sincerely hope you'll

support and sign a PC against Ruth when it gets put into motion. While I

could have easily done it myself, I sincerely think it sets a bad

precident for my to do so or to be involved in it directly.
